Tumlinson

Soprano Christa Tumlinson is excited to be in her third season with Volti. A transplant from Kansas via Southern California, Christa is absolutely loving the Bay Area. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Voice from California State University, Fullerton, with emphasis in both Classical and Jazz. She has sung professionally with several choirs, orchestral groups, and jazz bands, taught middle school choir and maintained an active private voice and piano studio. Now living in San Francisco, Christa is working for ACFEA Tour Consultants, arranging international performance tours for music groups.

Togasaki

TJ Togasaki joined the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir at age 7 and has been involved with the organization ever since, having joined the administration team 9 years ago. She finds it both inspiring and a bit frightening to note that she has sung under Bob’s baton for over half her life. TJ has also sung with the Schola Cantorum, Pacific Collegium, and International Orange Chorale. This is her ninth season with Volti and she is delighted to work with such remarkable singers and composers.


Pray

Soprano Diana Pray joins Volti for fall 2011 following chamber performances of Philip Glass’s Train 1 with sfSound and Stravinsky’s  Les noces with Dominique Leone. Specializing in early, Baroque, and modern music, Diana made her Redwood Symphony debut in Steve Reich’s Tehillim and appeared as the soprano Angel in Schutz’s Weinachtshistorie with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra.  She cantors at St. Ignatius Church and has made her choral career with groups including American Bach Soloists, SF Opera, and SF Renaissance Voices. Featured in many San Francisco special events, Diana has sung at the York Hotel Plush Room, the Julia Morgan Ballroom, and the Asian Art Museum. Recently she has delved into her Hungarian heritage, joining the concerts of instrument maker and ethnomusicologist Ferenc Tobák.

Lam

Mezzo soprano Cecilia Lam debuted with Volti for the Fall 2011 concerts.  She is an East Coast transplant who has found a welcoming and fulfilling home in the Bay Area choral world. Before joining Volti, Cecilia sang with Pacific Collegium, Artists’ Vocal Ensemble, Chalice Consort, International Orange Chorale, Schola Cantorum, and the San Francisco Festival Chorale. In addition to singing in vocal ensembles, Cecilia has played piano since the age of four and currently enjoys bringing friends together to explore piano quartet repertoire.  She holds an MS/MBA from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College, where she studied voice with Sally Sanford and piano with Jenny Tang.

Ko

Alice N. Ko, soprano, is excited to be joining Volti this season. An active performer in the Bay Area since 1997, she has performed the roles of 2nd Spirit (Die Zauberflote) with Opera San Jose, Damon (Acis and Galatea) with Opera non troppo, and The Soul (Ordo Virtutum) with San Francisco Renaissance Voices, among others. She has also sung with Berkeley Opera, West Bay Opera, Lamplighters Music Theatre, San Francisco Symphony Chorus, and EUOUAE. She is currently soprano soloist at Eglise Notre Dame des Victoires in San Francisco. As an actor, she has trained at the American Conservatory Theatre as well as in the Meisner Technique under Rachael Adler. Alice holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley and maintains a private piano studio in San Francisco.
