Tenor Paul Ingraham, now in his thirteenth season with Volti, began singing at the age of ten with the American Boychoir, studied at the Oberlin Conservatory, and received his B.A. degree in music from the University of California, Irvine, where he majored in tuba and orchestral conducting and founded the wind ensemble. He studied for the Master’s degree in ethnomusicology at the University of Hawaii where he performed in the Javanese gamelan and dance ensembles. Paul is Special Projects Coordinator for the New Choir, a Korean chamber choir in Sunnyvale. His current interests include evolutionary musicology and the cross-cultural philosophy of music. When he’s not performing, he’s probably mentoring students, hiking in the Santa Cruz Mountains or working on his international model railway.
